Inland it inverts: lots backing onto Top Bridge, the Wetlands or the Englishman River sit against standing vegetation, in shade for part of the day and under something that sheds. Sun and wind on one side, shade and organic debris on the other, and moss needs the second rather than the first. Which side of the river you are on is a more useful thing to say than the name of the town.

Parksville Bay and Craig Bay are broad sandy beaches rather than rock, and at Rathtrevor the tide recedes almost a kilometre at low water, exposing extensive flats of fine sand that dry out between tides. Fine dry sand does not stay where it is put. On the beachfront side of town it turns up on glass first, and because it is abrasive it wants to be flooded off rather than wiped — dry-wiping grit across a pane is exactly how glass gets scratched. Sliding door tracks and window channels collect it too, and those need clearing out rather than rinsing. A few streets inland none of that applies, which is why the address matters more here than the town name.
